"La Dolce Vita" a kite video with Gianmaria Coccoluto & Noe Font.
La Dolce Vita a new Duotone Kiteboarding short film by Noe Font, Gianmaria Cocoluto and friends. "In the wake of Europe’s lockdown, with the world upside down and traveling being more exclusive since the invention of flight. Reminiscing of past travels was a daily thing and I found myself itching as Coco rode Lo Stagnone di Marsala without a single soul around. I had very good memories of Sicily when I was younger and as soon as traveling within Europe was slightly more “socially accepted”, I take the matter into my own hands and fly over there. Ready to rumble after a very long time out of the water, rusty and with a bag of tricks I’ve completely forgotten. However, I couldn’t be more excited. Ten days, which turned to three weeks in Sicily with Gianmaria Cocoluto and friends. On arrival, I’m picked up on a convertible VW where I’m forced to take my board bag apart and stuff all my gear over the back seat. Boards sticking up through the back and welcome to Sicily. Romantic is what comes to mind when I think of the love for a tradition passed through so many generations. A lifestyle so authentic, timeless, humble. Appreciating things the way they always have been. Homegrown, fresh, and tasteful. Suckers for their small cars, preppy clothes, and caffè ristretto. Gelato in a bun and la pasta al dente. Together creating a phenomenon more casually known as “La Dolce Vita”. You have to give it to them; why change something when it is so great? Sicily “Non che covidi” is the region with the least amount of positive cases in all of Italy but coming from Spain I was instantly shocked by the lack of restrictions around which made it all far more surreal. Everything takes a back seat when you’re kept out of the water for so long, which on the positive side is a good reminder to make sure you’re not taking anything for granted. I mean we all did; traveling here and there. Hanging out with friends, going to the beach, or simply out for dinner… these are all things, I at least, took for granted. My goal was simple, I was there for Kiteboarding and so we did. The first five days are a blur, wind, wind, and more wind. On the sixth day the I was relieved to see the wind had taken a break as my body couldn’t handle another 6h at the beach. It didn’t take long for me to realize. Coco is a superstar. No matter where you go or what you do. Everyone knows him here. The fruit lady on the corner and every single member of the staff at the so called “Saro” where we were fed breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily unless we settled for more ordinary Pizza al metro. More importantly on the water, he is an absolute trick machine. I think he did all his tricks on the first day in 10 minutes and continued to do so throughout the entire summer. In case you missed the absolute tear his content is on I suggest you visit his Instagram. Time flies and it’s already time to head home. I’m not done with Sicily yet and I have no idea why it’s taken me so long to come back. It is now on the top of the list. Ci Vediamo presto." — Noe. Noè Font - Africa Mixtapes.
"Africa Mixtapes" is a compilation of my two trips to Africa at the beginning of 2020. The first expedition to Kenya was a great time, and although the wind never exceeded 12 knots, the thrill of visiting a new country made up for it. The landscapes we found ourselves in, and the wildlife that occupied this region was all straight out of "Nat Geo." After Kenya, the plan was to head down to Cape Town. The season was coming to an end there, and with KOTA already completed, the crowds were gone, so I figured it would be quiet, providing lighter winds, more practical for filming in the waves. It turns out the season was over before I expected, so I left South Africa with only a couple of sessions seared onto my hard drive. As the bout of 2020 careened forward, we got skunked with wind during the second trip to this expansive country; on par with the momentum 2020 has supplied the universe thus far. Instead of attempting to illustrate the impractical, I decided to shift the focus of the video towards the experience rather than the riding itself. Filming is never easy, and sometimes you have to settle with what you have. At the same time, I've been collecting footage for over a year now. I present "Africa Mixtapes," serving as a preview for the framework that's being rehearsed behind the curtain. Stay tuned. Africa Mixtapes is a KF original by Noe Font presented by Duotone Kiteboarding and ION. Filmed by Manel Arpa, Tom Court, Jop Heemskerk, Ewan Jaspan and Noe Font. 2020 RECAP! What a year...
2020 Started out with a broken femur, then a global pandemic followed... Nevertheless, my 2020 was still full of good times and experiences. Here are my favourite moments, and clips from the year! Thank you Airush and AK Durable Supply Co. for the support. Thank you Nadja Bianchet for being an awesome travel companion, riding partner and videographer!
Tunnel Vision - Keahi de Aboitiz (Cabrinha Kitesurfing)
For Keahi, kitesurfing has become an extension of surfing and a way to spend as much time in the ocean as possible. It’s a tool that turns windy sessions into a whole new world of fun. It’s an obsessive addiction that has led him to drop everything when a forecasted big swell appears on the horizon and scramble into planning to make it there. 2019 marked the beginning of a journey to go in search of some of the best waves on the planet. FATHER OCEAN ft. Ramiro Gallart in Brazil.
"Father Ocean. about the song and the name, it's kind of a big mix of things. first, it was a track we had been listing quite a bunch, we got really into it and then all the reflection and association process came. it felt somehow that with all this quarantine we lost a bit of the track and we just start following just the sun (as a metaphor of something that's good but can blind you) being back in brazil and getting free of this covid mindset felt like starting to see again. In the same line of thought comes the name that it's kind of a tribute to the ocean that we had been pushed away from it all this year and finally in brazil we met again. you for sure get what I'm talking about its this energy that nothing else gives you, in brazil this year I hear a lot; água salgada limpa a alma; (salty water cleans the soul) and it feels quite true to me." —Rami Thanks to Lucas Reddel, Lucas Muzio, Manel Arpa and Mora Gallart for shooting.
The boys are hungry to keep the Slingshot momentum strong and have just finished 2 weeks of shooting on one of the only public kite parks in the world: “The Gorge". And once again Alex Fox, Sam Light and Eric Rienstra have raised the bar on what can be done with a kite. This new short film was filmed and directed by Patrick Wieland and produced by Mauricio Abreu - so sit back and enjoy the next level of kiteboarding...
BEHOLD & SEA - Ewan Jaspan Full Length
Throughout 2018 I decided to focus on making a full length video part. Together with Alexander Lewis-Hughes from Knot Future we managed to film in Perth, Melbourne, Cape Hatteras, Squamish, Hood River and Icapui in Brazil and pull it all into one piece. It was a different year holding back all the footage we gathered while watching everyone release short videos throughout the season, but I think in the end it was definitely worth it and we hope this inspires more people to focus on quality content that lasts in the age of social media. Make sure to share this video to help support these kind of videos in the kiteboarding industry.
