On location for "VORTEX" and shooting a candidate for Photo of the year.

It was a pleasure to spend some time on Nantucket with Xander and his family while working on our new film "Vortex". On this day some weather had come in and we made the most of a very dark and moody evening at his local spot. I didn't expect much from the session but it's one of those days when you're happy you went when you're seeing the shots at home. Stoked to have this one get nominated for GKA photo of the year! — NOE

Not often do I get the opportunity to shoot photos with someone at my home spot in Massachusetts, so this past summer, when Noe came to visit, we traded on and off with the camera and were able to get this shot just before dusk. The sparkling water droplets that are visible in the shot are not from the spray of my board but actually from rain showers. Nearly as soon as we began to pump our kites, a rain squall blew overhead, creating dark and ominous blue hues, but only a few miles in the distance, you could see the orange glow of the sun as it sank into the ocean. The contrast of gloomy clouds, combined with the last remaining flickers of light from the sun, made for a memorable session at home, and it was cool to be able to share it with Noe." — Xander Raith
